J1900N-D3V, 5 beeps on power-up

I've just received a new J1900-D3V board to upgrade my home server. I got it all wired up, and on power-on, there is a short "power on" beep, a pause while the drives spin up, but no output on the VGA ... and then 5 short beeps.

From http://bit.ly/1i7smxN that sounds like a CPU error.

Before I start though the whole process of RMA'ing the board, does anyone know of any problems with powering a J1900 off a PicoPSU? I'm using an early 120W version, built around a 20-pin ATX connector, similar to http://bit.ly/vyN2Gj. Mine only has two molex and a floppy power connector, so I'm using some extra adapters to provide me with connectors for 2 x SATA power connectors, 1 x P4 connector, and a single Molex connector to power my fans. The whole lot runs off a 102W AC-DC brick.

The system comprises the motherboard, 1 stick of RAM, 2 x 3.5" disks, and four 80mm fans (no graphics cards or anything) and I figure it should be drawing less power than my current VIA C7 system (which boots fine).

Thoughts?
Richard

Bah. I think I've realised what the problem is likely to be. I'm depending on the trick of plugging a 20 pin ATX supply into a 24 pin motherboard socket, and expecting it to work. It almost always used to, but I suspect this new motherboard requires all 24pins of the power connector to be connected. I'll pick up a 20 pin ATX supply to 24 pin motherboard adaptor tomorrow and check my theory out.

The 20 pin PSU should work. The 24 pins were made for dual CPU and it became a standard for all boards.

The CPU plugs were made from 4 pin to 8 pins were for the same reason. The 4 pin is 150w and the 8 pins is 300w.
