Lost Sound

Lost Sound
« on: May 08, 2014, 06:51:36 pm »
I have a GA-Z87X-UD3H motherboard running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have lost my sound. It seems to have to do with which output jack is active as I lost it when I unplugged the speakers and then plugged them in again, which brought up a box saying it was changing the port. I tried the Windows troubleshooter which finds no problems. Bringing up the Realtech HD Audio Manger doesn't seem to have any options to fix it. I must be missing something. Can anyone help.

Thanks,
Ivan

As a update to the above, the front speaker output jack works if I plug in headphones. I then tried the headphones on the rear jack but get nothing from it.

Uninstall realtek and see if windows loads a driver. If it does see if everything is working. It could be realtek causing the problem.

Many thanks. Uninstalling Realtek solved the problem. I'm not an audiophile. Use the PC mostly for business. Is there any reason to try reinstalling Realtek?

No not really as long as you have sound and it is working leave well effort a lone. Just watch to make sure windows down the road doesn't update it with the realtek drive.

You are the 2nd person that had that problem and he is using the Microsoft driver too.
