GA-X58-USB3 doesn't boot with 3x ram kit
« on: May 18, 2014, 08:17:48 pm »
[Mainboard]
Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3

[Processor]
Intel Core I7 950 3.06GHz 8MB 1366p

[OS]
Ubuntu 14.04

[PSU]
Thermaltake Soprano PSU 600W

[Graphic card]
Powercolor hd5770 1GB 128BIT DDR5 DVI HDMI PCIEX

[Harddisk]
1TB Western Digital Cav. Black 32 MB 3.5" Sata2

[RAM]
12 GB total = Kingston HyperX (3x, 4GB, DDR3-1600) or [ KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX ]

[Problem]
When I try to boot up using the power button, nothing appears on screen and actually it resets again and again forever. It doesn't pass the stage where it beeps.
But when I unplug and plug again, it boots fine.
I don't have boot problem when I use two of the rams. It doesn't matter which slots I plug the rams but I am not really sure because it is kind of random or I changed things at bios etc.

Bios is set to fail safe settings. I read on the forum similar problems were solved by settings ram voltages manually but I never did that before so I was afraid to play with it.

I used to have 3x2GB kingston hyperx ram kit in the first configuration but then removed one of the set because I thought it was causing the problem.
Now I know it was not the ram after encountering boot problems with new set of rams.

Would you please help me solve it?
