GA-Z77M-D3H rev1.1 - wont post - 3 beeps - help pls
« on: June 08, 2014, 01:19:39 pm »
Hi

Having problems with a new mobo and cpu :(

GA-Z77M-D3H rev 1.1 with i3-2100 will not post.   I just get 3 beeps repeated at intervals.   nothing on screen from any of the video outputs.

I guess they are long beeps - or at least they are longer than the short fast beeps I get if I power on without any memory.

I've tried two different sticks of 2gb corsair xms3 memory - in various sockets, 1 stick or 2 sticks.

Tried two different gfx cards and onboard gfx
Tried removing battery
tried shorting bios reset pins
tried hard drive connected or disconnected
reseated cpu & cooler
All makes no difference.

On the possibility that the mobo doesnt like the memory I've ordered a stick from crucial.

PSU is a corsair 650W unit.

Manual doesn't have any info about beep codes in it and I know that different systems can have different codes.
So, can anyone either suggest a fix or point me at a reliable manual with the beep codes for this mobo.

thanks

3 beeps is a memory error. You can try clearing cmos and use 1 stick of ram also take out battery and unplug PSU for 30 minutes.  If that doesn't help try the other stick with other options also.

Also what is your bios version?  You need bios Q0 for that processor. Might try updating bios to see if it helps.

Thanks!

I'll wait until the new memory turns up from crucial then.  maybe a compatibility issue with the corsair memory.

Hope there isnt an isue with the cpu compatibility - how do I upgrade the bios with a non-posting system?   ???

The CPU is supported from the F9 BIOS (autotech made a mistake in saying Q0 which is, in fact, the stepping version of your CPU) which was the first release for the Rev 1.1 version of this board so you don't need to worry about compatibility there.

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
