ssd drive how big ?
« on: June 18, 2014, 01:07:26 am »
hi all, I have a ga-z77x-up7 mobo and im thinking of putting an ssd msata drive on it.
can I put a Samsung evo 840 1tb drive on it ?
I think its a 6gb/s drive and the mobo is only 3gb/s.
so would it still work, only slower I think ?
or would it work better on a card in a slot ?
thankz. paul.

If all you have is sata 2 then yes sata 3 is backwards compatible.   As for slower I have a friend that had me install one in his computer and the difference is so small you probably wont notice it especially if you are coming from a platter drive.
