Gigabyte Z97 SOC Force - PCI-E slots question
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:02:56 pm »
Hello. I have a question about PCIe slots, if a GPUs will be installed in slot 1 + slot 2 and i want to use WiFi PCI card, installed in PCIe slot 4 (The PCIEX4_2), does it mean, slot 1 wont work?
From official page about soc force : The PCIEX4_2 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX1 slots. The PCIEX1 slot will become unavailable when a PCIe x4 expansion card is installed.
As i understand it, 1st slot wont work IF i install expansion card x4 or more, but what about x1 ie wifi?
Thanks.

This from the book:

Connecting the Graphics Cards

install CrossFire/SLI graphics cards on the PCI

Express x16 slots. (To set up a 2-Way configuration, we recommend installing the graphics cards in the PCIEX16
and PCIEX8 slots.

To set up a 3-Way configuration, we recommend installing the graphics cards in the PCIEX16,
PCIEX8, and PCIEX4_1 slots.)

If you set it up like they said you will have PCIEX4_1 slots open.

If you set it up the way you are saying yes the #1 slots will stop working like they said.
