Hi there,

Which version of the AthlonII 250 CPU do you have? Is it the one with C2 or C3 stepping? (If it is the C3 stepping version you will need to update bios to F7G)

If you are sure that you have correct bios for your CPU.........  re-set everything in bios to optimised defaults. (I know this seems like going backwards but it is better to start with everything returned to their default settings). Reboot and check that your system is OK

Once you have done that, can you re-post with some further details as to how the system is (without tweaking), and what you are trying to achieve. It will then be easier to point you in the right direction.

Cheers

Hi Lipi,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I know this isn't what you want to hear but, with your CPU and DDR2 memory you won't be able to get the speed and ratings that you want.

The AthlonII is the cause as it is limited to a maximum memory rating of DDR2-800 Mhz or DDR3-1066. This isn't due to the Mobo bios or the Mobo just to the CPU you are using.  :'(

That is not true (but it´s not your fault):

http://www.amd.com/uk/products/desktop/processors/athlon-ii-x2/Pages/AMD-athlon-ii-x2-processor-model-numbers-feature-comparison.aspx

Type of Memory Supported
X2 - Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) -AND- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066MHz)
X3 and X4 - Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) -AND- PC3 10600 (DDR3-1333MHz)

Per example: AMD´s web page in spanish is not up to date and says:
http://www.amd.com/es/products/desktop/processors/athlon-ii-x2/Pages/AMD-athlon-ii-x2-processor-model-numbers-feature-comparison.aspx

Tipo de memoria compatible
X2 – Admite DIMMs sin registrar hasta PC2-6400 (DDR2-800 MHz) -Y- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1.066 MHz)
X4 – Admite DIMMs sin registrar hasta PC2-6400 (DDR2-800 MHz) -Y- PC3 10600 (DDR3-1.333 MHz)

Hi Lipi,

your memory is DDR2 and checking both of the links that you have provided they say:

Type of Memory Supported  X2 - Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2-6400 (DDR2-800MHz) -AND- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066MHz) and.....

Tipo de memoria compatible  X2 – Admite DIMMs sin registrar hasta PC2-6400 (DDR2-800 MHz) -Y- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1.066 MHz)

Having checked out your links I stand by what I said. Your CPU will not support the memory speed you are after.

I'm sorry that you feel that way, but like many people on this forum, I do not work for Gigabyte or any other manufacturer. I am trying to help not hinder.

Have you contacted Kingston about this?

I would be interested in their answer because it contradicts what AMD are saying about this.

It works at: 1066 5-7-7-24 2.1V 1T

Someone with the same configuration of mobo & memory?
Someone a configuration of mobo & other memory brand?
Can anyone help me?

I think that the memory does not meet specifications, so motherboard manufactured
only lets it to run at that speed, lowering latencies.

Memory works also at: 800 5-5-5-18 1T 1.8V
¿Will the system be faster at 800 5-5-5-18 config or at 1066 5-7-7-24?

Making calculations 18T at 800Mhz is exactly the same time that 24T at 1066.
Will be any perfomance gain at 1066?

Thanks

I have AMD x2 245 and Corsair dominator (CM2x2048-8500C5D) 1066 5-5-15-22 @ 2.1V.
F6 bios, i ran memtest and theres no error. Maybe the problem is you ram.
By the way there is not a 1066 Mhz dd2 standart, they are all ddr2 800 with a high overclock capacity. Thats why they say your cpu supports ddr2 800 (ddr2 800=ddr2 1066)

I have a Phenom X2 555 and two sticks of KHX 8500D2/1G. The spec for this ram if you download the .pdf file from kingston are:
"Timing Reference: 5-5-5-18 at +1.8V / 5-5-5-15 at +2.2V. This module has been tested to run at DDR2 1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2V."
So you need manually to set it to 5-5-5-15 add 0.4v so it will use 2.2v in total. Also the Trtc0 and 1 set to 105 ns.
and i have set the Row Cycle Time to 24 T.
