Can't install Windows 8.1

Can't install Windows 8.1
« on: August 20, 2014, 01:32:45 pm »
Hello,

Just trying to install Windows 8.1 on my brand new computer. Windows 8.1 can't install, it asks for media drivers, and even I enter the motherboard disk in the CD drive and select the appropriate drivers according to manual, Windows still does not install and pass beyond that point. MY Motherboard is a GA-X79-UP4 with Intel CPU. I updated my MB BIOS to the latest available firmware (F7).

This is really frustrating, as this first step should be at least straight forward.

If anyone has an idea on what's going on, I will be really appreciated.

Regards,
Oscar

The memory installed and  HD is being recognized correctly by the BIOS?

Yes, they are. One SSD and one HDD correctly shown in BIOS. Also both memory modules are present there, with appropriate information, speed and size.

I think this problem is related with drivers preloaded in Windows 8 installation media, I was able to install Windows 7 without issues. However I was of the idea that this MB was Windows 8 ready :(

Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried downloading and installing the Windows 8.1 drivers from the Gigabyte web site?

Could be difficult to you to find and try an old optical media with Windows 8.0 instead of 8.1?

Yes, that was the problem. I used a flash drive to install Windows from, and it worked.

Thank you all!
