GA-P35-DS4 (rev. 1.0) onboard soundcard not working
« on: August 23, 2014, 09:16:33 pm »
Hello,

I have a GA-P35-DS4 (rev. 1.0) running  windows 7 64 bit.
I'm using the latest F14 bios for this mobo.
This mobo is using the ALC889A Audio controller

And my onboard soundcard is not working, I got 2.1 speakers plugged in the green audio jack.
I've tried the audio drivers found on the motherboards page, the latest drivers on the realtek website and some other drivers.
None of them seem to work, but windows can see the sound chip because it installs it's  own drivers for it.
So I rather think it's a software issue rather then a hardware issue.

I also find it odd that realtek hd audio manager doesn't install with the realtek drivers.
And when i installed a driver it woul say ''Digital Audio (HDMI) and as jack information HDMI Digital Jack
on the playback device it's properties and it would state it as not plugged in.

I hope you can help me

Are you using a video card with HDMI sound. If so it looks like windows has selected that as default sound device. Go to control panel and open sound properties. See what your default device is. If it isn't your realtek change it to default. I have had that happen when I installed a graphics card with HDMI sound on it and I just had to change default device back.

I'm not using the HDMI output of my video card and the Digital Audio (HDMI) is the only device in playback devices.
In device manager under Sound, video and game controllers it is listed as High Definition Audio Device.

If your realteck isn't showing up try downloading and install driversweeper. Uninstall all sound drivers by realtek , restart in safe mode and use driversweeper to uninstall any left over realteck drivers. Then restart and install from motherboard site see if that helps.

It did not work with the driver from the motherboard site, also tried realteks newest driver.

I found some people that fixed a similar problem by changing Azalia Codec from Auto to Enabled in the bios
But I can only set it to Auto or Disable it, is there a way how I can enable this?
