GIGABYTE Z97X-Gaming 3 boot loop

Hey folks, posting after a few infuriating hours trying to get my new build to work.
I used a GIGABYTE Z97X-Gaming 3 and an i7 4790, and when i fit the noctua NHU cooler, it just goes into a constant boot loop if the  memory is in dual channel mode, however It will boot up when its not in dual channel

I tried it with the hyper 212 I had lying about, and same thing, it will not boot in dual channel, and it will boot using two none dual channel slots.
It will boot with just one stick in any one of the other slots, just not dual channel.
As a last resort I put the stock cooler in and all of a sudden everything is fine, boots up and runs fine.

I am not sure why I only get this problem with other coolers ?
and I am not sure what else it could be, any suggestions would be helpful.

Are you plugging them into CPU-FAN if so might want to try Plugging the after market coolers into the CPU-OPT instead see if it makes a difference.

Well, this morning I had another crack at it.
I tried using the CPU-OPT and there was no difference.
I also tried using one fan in each, FAN and OPT, but to no avail.
Then I woke up properly and tried using the low noise fan adapters on both fans and using the splitter to plug them into in the CPU-FAN, which it worked with for ten or so minutes before I got blue screen.
I then applied the ultra low noise adapters, plugged them in the same way as above and it seems to boot up and stay stable fine for now.
I hope that solved the issue although im not 100 sure what it was exactly, could anyone shed any light on it for me ?

This is the RAM i was using, the chap at the shop said it was compatible but I am not sure now, I cannot see it on the compatible list now that I think of it.
I am using it at 1600 mHz

It boots and runs now using those low noise things, but occasionally it blue screens while browsing the net.

Im tempted to just replace the board with another one, Ive never had a system give me this much stress, let alone such an expensive one.

Well I just tested with some memory that is definitely supported and it boots using only one stick in all but slot 2
Its now running without the low noise adapters for the cpu fan but only with one stick.
am I right in assuming it is the board ?
If so I think I should just go back to what I know, asus, its a shame because I have heard such good things about gigabyte boards as well but I have never had such stress caused by a build before.

Possibly, but remember the memory controller is built into the CPU.

The most likely cause of the problem is a bent pin or pins in the CPU socket and to check this you will need a good magnifying glass and a lot of patience as you will need to remove the CPU from the motherboard and check the socket very carefully.

Thanks for the help, but that seems like way too much messing about for a new build, I am just going to send the board and the memory back to amazon and get a replacement one with some corsair ram instead.
These are the best components I have ever used, they all came highly recommended and they are causing me more stress than any of the systems I have ever built.

Well I checked the socket, seemed fine, I tried a 3570k i5 and the same issue was present.
I tried different memory, that is definitely supported and still the same thing.
I am currently running it on one 8GB stick in the first slot with one fan in CPU-OPT and one fan in CPU-FAN.
I now cannot boot with any ram in slot 2, I noticed one of the sata sockets sometimes does not work also.

New board came today and it now works like a charm !

Interesting since I'm having a similar experience with my z97x-ud5h. I would never have implicated the Hyper Evo but who knows, I'll see tonight if swapping it out for stock intel "fixes" it.

I've read about the bent pin issue on some other threads both here and other forums, seems odd to me that a bent pin borks the dual channel but rest of the system still works. Seems like a bent pin with be havoc.

And raise my rent -- pried off the haswell and noticed a slight -- really slight -- bend in one of the pins.  Brushed it back in line with a regular sewing pin AS best I could, and voila, dual channel no problem.
