P67A-UD5 BIOS resets to defaults after power outage
«

Cold boot works normal, all BIOS settings are intact. However, after power outage, or when I disconnect power supply even for one sec BIOS just resets to default, after cheksum error. I tried changing motherboard battery, without luck.
Any ideas?

It still sound like a bad battery. Do you have another mother board if you do try the battery out of the board.
As long as you have the power connected and the computer is turn it will hold the memory.
There is one other thing here is that battery socket might have gone bad.

I tried battery from another PC, and it is the same. One more thing, I tried to save CMOS to BIOS, and even after power outage I can still load that BIOS profile. I guess that means that battery is OK.
The question is why does power outage cause CMOS checksum error, and loading of BIOS defaults?

I did some checking and you are not the only having this kind of problem. Check the connection on the battery socket.
To make sure your getting a good connection and clean the that socket too. Other then that I have nothing else sorry.

I had the same problem with a DFI board. It turned out to be the casing I was using. If you have a Coolermater Cosmos case with the capacitive touch on/off switch that may well be your answer. This is a documented problem using this case.I solved it by using an Asus board which didn't suffer this problem from a power outage.Strange but true

Thanks for the info. I am using Coolermaster Sniper case, but since I am investigating this issue, the case is still open, and I am using onboard power button.

I have the same board, not noticed this issue. But then I normally have the power connected!
saying that I did notice that the battery connector had come loose at one of the pins, but it seems to be ok.
when I had done some work on the PC I actually found it difficult to reset the bios.
