New build Failing to boot.

I have recently ordered all the parts for a new build. as follows.

Ga-B85-D2V board rev 1.1
i5 4690k cpu
powermax x-viper PSU -750w semi modular
2x 8 gb ram 1600 hz
radeon r9 280 x-edition.

When i turn the tower on i have power for about 3 seconds before it cuts out and restarts the process ( In which this time the psu fan, gfx fan spin and the cpu fan starts ) I have not heard any beeps or noises as of yet. reset board and tried powering up without anything but the board,and cpu attached and same problem persists ( including only having one stick of ram in) Checked all my wiring is correct and not at fault there. I am wondering if it is the board that is causing me the problems! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the pins in the CPU socket.

Have looked and could not see anything wrong. Thanks for the help

Have you tried the on-board/CPU video? Have you tried another PSU? Have you tried it out side the computer on the box it came in?

The steps it check for are first CPU & CPU fan, memory, & Video. If it was video it will still run but nothing on the screen.

If it was memory problem most of the time the computer will boot but just sit there running.

I would clear cmos after so many failed attempt's and build it outside of computer with just CPU and 1 stick of ram.

Do you have different ram you can try.  dmdilks is right in first post when it sounds like bent CPU pins. That is exactly how it acts if they are bent. Since you have ruled that out I would build it outside of case and see what happens. Use the onboard with just the parts for a bare bone. No hard drive or video card and just 1 stick of ram. If that doesn't help try switching out the one stick for the other. Hook it up to onboard graphics and bios should show on screen.

I was ready to RMA my Z97 board a couple weeks ago took it out cleared cmos and still would not boot or power on so I got RMA number and talked on phone with gigabyte support was quick to get a RMA number already filled out forms online so I had the reference number.

So before I hung up I told the guy that was a weird problem because it had worked great before. I already had it in a box for 3 days ready to go so he switched me to support.  I have a work room for just computers they had me build it out of case and what a surprise it worked. As I had already tried that all before it made me wonder if having it without battery and in box for 3 days did a better reset on cmos.

You are lucky it is a new build you can RMA it to retailer or etailer and get another new board, If everything else fails. Good Luck
