I bought a z97x-ud5h-bk, and it came with the bios version f4. I started overclocking the cpu and achieved 4.6ghz @ 1.250v. then i upgraded the bios to version f6 to see if i can optimize it even further, and to my surprise the system became unstable, even logging to windows bsod's the system. I went to the bios and upped the voltage to 1.750v and that stabilized the system.
Switching to the backup bios, which still is version f4 allows me to achieve the 4.6ghz @ 1.250v.
This makes no sense to me, is the f6 bios version moving some of the default values of the bios? the only things i tweaked in the bios were the core clock, the core voltage and disabled the turboboost™
I'll just stay on the f4 for the moment, but anyone experienced something similiar when overclocking?
cpu is 4690k with the h110 cooler.
