I'm running a Phenom II 550 CPU with this motherboard and memory.  With 4 gb installed, the machine runs fine and is very stable.  However, I get constant crashes at any memory setting with 8 gb installed,  8 gb passes hours of Windows 7 Pro X64 memory testing error free.  But nothing but crashes in Windows.  I'm not overclocking and have tried a number of conservative memory settings.

I found this on the OCZ Web site:

"Officially 4 memory modules when run with a Phenom II CPU are only supported at 800 MHz. Size does not matter. 4x512, 4x1GB, or 4x2GB ram modules will be run at a max speed of 800 MHz.

Therefore, OCZ will not support more than 2 memory modules at any speed higher than 800 MHz. Do not buy 1066 rated ram if you are interested in running 8GB with your Phenom II CPU."

Does anyone know anything about this?  If it's true, I've wasted well over $1000 on pure junk.

Oops!  My CPU is a Phenom II 555, C3 stepping, which supposedly address some of the issues with memory.

Hi there,

whilst the memory controller is on-board the CPU, the issue that Pottypete is referring to with certain AMD CPU's being limited to 800 Mhz if you are using DDR2 has, in the most part, been addressed with the C3 stepping and newer bios. (I got this wrong in response to an earlier thread regarding this so, once again, apologies to lipi)
