Every time I boot with a single Asus GTX580 graphics card in either PCIEX16_1 or PCIEX16_2 I get post beeps but everything is fine if I use PCIEX16_3. The beeps are (I think) 1 long and 2 or 3 short beeps but they happen so fast I find it hard to count them properly. This problem has only started in the past few weeks, prior to that all 3 graphics cards in SLI were being found and shown in Windows but now only 1 card is found and showing.

I tested each of the 3 card power supply's on each of the 3 cards in all PCIE16 slots but the beeps only occur in slot _1 and _2, _3 is fine for all cards using all power connections.

Does this mean that my mobo is on the way out?

Any help to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

That is what it sounds like it is starting to fail. It might be time to start looking for another board or upgrade.

Which replacement board would you suggest as I'm not too sure I'd be better off changing the processor? Any comments will be appreciated.

Which upgrade option would you suggest?

You could go out and get another X58 board to keep yourself going. Yes I have a X99 board but it hasn't really given me any troubles like other people. If you want to stay with the larger i7 than that is the way to go.

But to save on some money you could go with a i7-4790K 1150 & a Z97 board or a x79 & i7-3930k 2011 CPU. That way you can still use everything you have now. You would only be getting MB & CPU. Plus it is how much you want to spend.

If you live here in the USA. You can get to a Micro Center store. You can save some money there too with the in store sales. The thing is any board you go with you can use almost everything, but memory if you go with the X99 / 2011v3 CPU they take DDR4.
