ERRRRRRR! Everyone has been quoting the Marvell 88SE9128 Controller Chip and It's lack of performance for many months..........not the New 88SE9182 chip that is currently shipping........wait till boards start to appear with the 88SE9130.....Very cool Idea!

IT’S WORKING PERFECTLY!!!!

It was my fault entirely as I was trying to use a previous IDE installation and I had to either to do a fresh ACHI operating system install or modify the registry (I chose this), reset the BIOS and then use the Marvell controller and it’s great.

Very, very fast and 100% stable.

Good to hear you sorted it out.....IDE and AHCI install stability is not documented very well, and when you do see it,  it's  rarely highlighted...........................unfortunately, I as well suffer from pilot error on a daily bases.......it's half the fun.

You should always do a fresh install every time you do a major upgrade like a motherboard etc.

Marvell has published new firmware for 9182 chip however G1 X58 Sniper Bios is left at F4E back in 2011. Is there any way to update Marvell firmware within the BIOS? Can I get a BIOS modification done professionally? I know the mobo is a bit ancient these days but I still get very impressive speeds with my XEON chip and triple RAM channels on that board and would love to see how the SSD would match. Any help appreciated.

Someone might be able to help you with a modded BIOS over at TweakTown. http://forums.tweaktown.com/forum.php Good Luck!
