GA-M61PM-S2 dual channel question

GA-M61PM-S2 dual channel question

My system:

Windows 7 sp1 64 bit ultimate

GA-M61PM-S2 (rev. 1.0) (never updated bios, bios settings default, it's supports dual channel)

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ 2.20 ghz dual core processor (stock cpu, never overclocked)

250 watt psu (stock psu)

2 x 2 gb 1.8v ddr 2 800 mhz cl5 ram (bios says it's 4 gb and runs in dual channel but 667 mhz) (one of the ram is kingston, other one veritech)

The question is: Yesterday a friend of mine gave me two 1 gb 1.8v ddr 2 800 mhz cl5 ram (one of the ram is kingston, other one is micron tech). I installed the ram. (2x1 and 2x1) Now I have 6 gb ram but it's running in single channel mode. I have read on internet that some guys with another motherboard manage to run the computer in dual channel mode with two 2 gb ram and two 1 gb ram. I tried other combinations like 2x2 and 1x1, it's still running in single channel. So, is this possible to run in dual channel or am I doing something wrong? Do I need to update bios? It's not a big deal for me to run in single channel mode but I'm just curious.

Additional information:

I can't either run in dual channel mode with 2 x 1 gb ram but 2 x 2 gb ram runs in dual channel mode. Is this means my motherboard only run in dual channel mode if I install 2 gb ram?
