SpeedStep not working with z97x-ud5h

SpeedStep not working with z97x-ud5h
« on: July 23, 2015, 03:11:39 pm »
I have a new build on a z97x-ud5h-bk motherboard, rev 1.1 and latest bios (F7). I'm using a 4790K processor with all bios settings at "Auto", as I do not intend to overclock. Everything is working flawlessly, with the exception of speedstep. The processor is running at maximum turbo frequency of 4.4Ghz constantly. I would like things to throttle down when at idle, as normally should occur.

Can anyone help me figure out the necessary settings in BIOS to solve this issue? I've enabled the "CPU EIST Function" although this has not changed anything.

Any help would be most appreciated!

I have the same rig, also rev 1.1, minus BK.

What OS are you running?

Where are you seeing 4.4Ghz?  In BIOS (where), Easy Tune, SIV or in app like CPUz?  Have you mistakenly enabled performance increase %.  You might just be seeing max turbo freq.

Thanks for your reply. I am seeing 4.4Ghz in the bios, and CPUz. Performance Increase is set to "Auto"

You could try the F8a beta BIOS over at TweakTown here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html to see if that resolves it.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

7sudden,
In BIOS look at M.I.T. > Current Status

So your Turbo Ratio /Non Turbo Ratio and Turbo Freq / Non Turbo Freq are the same?

Grabbed this from the web as an example
