X99 UD4 Linux installation

Hey,

I am trying to install linux as a dual boot with windows 10 and am running across a unique error I believe is bios related.

On trying to boot off the installation disc I get errors starting "cpu not responding" followed by a restart and then me spending the next fifteen minutes repairing the master boot record with my windows recovery usb drive.

I wanted to know if anyone had experienced anything similar or had any ideas as to what may be causing this. I have a secure boot compatible os (tried Mint and Ubuntu), and have tried the obvious things such as disabling fast boot, etc.

No idea, but I'd suggest:
ensure you have the latest bios, and then do a 'reset to defaults'.
I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that Mint is not a secure boot compatible OS, so those won't work.
What is your combination of motherboard, cpu, ram, & graphics?

There should also be a key that you can hit during boot, to try a safe mode, or at least see a log of what's happening leading up to the problem.
