Z77 D3H rev1.1 (VIA Vdeck) and Windows 10

Z77 D3H rev1.1 (VIA Vdeck) and Windows 10
« on: August 09, 2015, 12:42:02 pm »
Just upgraded from Windows 7 and found the VIA Vdeck does not load.  As a result, I don't have access to my microphone.  No apparent updated driver package for this.

Anyone else?.

There was a recent post on this...  same chipset.  Does your board have "VT20x" sound chip?  There is no updated install for this chip.  However, you should have access to your Mic under Control Panel > Sounds > Input and Playback devices.  I think the functionality that is lost is port sense.

Its the VT2021 according to the mobo spec.  I had checked under control panel -> sound -> recording, and it just says 'No audio devices installed'.  Tried the mic at the rear jack plug as well as the front (where I normally have it plugged in).  Sods law the similar Z77 D3SH has a Realtek chipset and that one DOES have a Win10 driver.  Been wondering if another mobo manufacturer might have used the same VIA chipset and made a Win10 driver i could use, unless its down to VIA, who I have also contacted (waiting for a reply),

Windows 10 is capable of providing basic sound support.  If it was working previously, should still work now.  What does your Device Manager say?

Good news for anyone in the same boat.  I got it working using the Windows 8.1 (64bit) driver.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4327#dl

It installed no problem (though be aware of one window telling you to click on its restart button, while another is still installing).  Vdeck loads, Microphone device now listed and working.  Socket sense (or whatever its called) works too.

Happy days.
(thanks for the input shadowsports)

This post will probably make a lot of Z77 folks happy.  Many of my previous systems had VIA deck sound chips.  They always worked well.  Nice you shared this solution.
