GA-EX58-UD5 - Bootloop then stocksettings
« on: September 03, 2015, 10:23:16 am »
Hello!

I run an i7-950 with 2x8GB DDR3 1600 on GA-EX58-UD5

The Board works fine with my Overclock @ 4.2GHz with 200 BLCK.

BUT: As soon as I use offsetmode for Vcore, it only starts sometimes.
When I manually set the vcore (like I did the last years since 2009) it works just fine. But recently I found out, that there is now Dynamic Vcore in F13 Bios. But why does the VID+OFFset=OC-VCore not work everytime. IF it boots, it runs stable all day long. But on the next day the pc starts, goes off after 2 secs, starts, goes off, and then starts with stocksettings. "Overclock failed". But it happens no matter what. I can also set offset without any OC but after every couple of restarts it "forgets" the settings. If i use fixed Vcore mode, it runs stable, and has no problems at all.

But I really want to take advantage of the lower vcore when in idle :( saving some watts :(

any idea if this is a bug?

thank you and sorry for my english - not a native speaker!

Might be a bug
Might be your flash
Might be your CPU
Could be your PSU as well.

3.06/3.33 running at 4.2 is a nice overclock.  I don't OC.  Gave it up early 2000's.  If you're going to play, you have to accept the possibility of heat and instability.  Again, its hard to say what your problem is since you get similar results regardless of the BLCK when dynamic vcore offset is enabled.  A different CPU or PSU might behave differently.  Thresholds will vary.  Bad code in the BIOS could cause this as well.
