GA-H55M-S2H---CPU upgrade Intel i3-i530 to i5-750

Just want to confirm  if it is possible to upgrade my CPU on this board. I have at present a i3-530 cpu and have tried to install a i5-750(was definitely working on another machine) but after installation it will not boot ie nothing on screen at all, motherboard appears to power up (fans etc but no beep) According to the Gigabytes CPU support list it should be compatible with this board, so threfore I take it that it should work?.Looking at my computer system info it says BIOS version F6 6/7/2010 so I assume it  is up to date?. I have placed a jumper to clear the CMOS but still no joy. Tried several attempts to install the i5-750 but still black screen
My system has 4gb RAM, Nvidia gt 630 graphics card. Am I missing something out ? or doing it incorrectly? I have looked at other posts on here but none seem to shed any light on my problem. Any help appreciated thank you.
I have reinstalled my i3-530 and system is all working as it should.

Please post your complete system specs including MB rev #.  If the CPU is confirmed working elsewhere, it could be the CPU & memory combination you are using.

GA-H55-S2H Rev. 1.1(According to my computer System Information, it is listed as BIOS version/date     F6   7/6/2010)
Presently installed CPU is Intel i3-530  2.93Ghz
ATX 650 Watt PSU
2x2GB Patriot PSD32G133381 PC3 RAM modules (info on RAM module PS000811 26B PC3 10666 CL9)
500GB wd hdd
Nvidia Geforce GT630 graphics card
OS Windows 7 Ultimate
The CPU I am having difficulty upgrading to is Intel i5-750 2.66 ghz (info on cpu--SLBLC Malay 8m/09B L940B537)

I have to admit I feel  a bit out of my depth when talking about compatible memory modules etc,(I had spoken to the local PC repair shop today about putting it into them to sort out, but being a tight scotsman I loathe to do that)  anyway I thank you in advance for any assistance.
