X58A-UD7 - F6 BIOS

X58A-UD7 - F6 BIOS

I've just flashed the BIOS to version F6 in order to try and reduce some of the Marvell SATA 3 Controller Issues, but now the CPU Speed is reporting incorrectly during boot-up.

All settings are correct, but the Boot-up Screen states that the CPU is operating at 133x22 (2.93 GHz)......even though the multiplier is set to 21

Windows, however, still thinks that the 930 (unclocked) Processor is operating at 2.79 GHz.

Anyone else seen / experienced this?

Sound about right.

The i7 930 is 133 x21 @ 2793Mhz.

Windows is reporting the Intel Turbo speed, which for your processor is 133x22, which would make it 2926Mhz.

Sound like the F6 BIOS upgrade has detected your processor correctly.

Read my post again......you've got it all backwards!

It's the BIOS which is reporting it as 2.93 GHz, not Windows!

Sorry got it the wrong way around ::)

What I said was still correct, it's the Intel turbo mode on i7's, it increases the multiplier by 1.

Don't believe me... switch of the turbo mode in the BIOS. Your boot will then say 2793Mhz.

Haven't booted the new machine in a few days, so I'll try this later and let you know.

Thanks for the info...
