Blank screen with GA-E350N

Hi folks,

I bought a GA-E350N a few years back (rev 1.0), but just now have gotten around to building my system with it.  The issue I'm having is that there is no video signal upon startup.  The CPU fan does spin up, and the power LED does work.

I have the proper RAM in it, but I have tried everything, including removing all ram, hdd's, devices, etc, and still no joy.  I have tried VGA and HDMI monitors, to no avail.  I have tried replacing the CR2032 battery, holding down power button when turning on the power supply, and shorting the CLR_CMOS pins.  I have tried different VGA cables and different monitors.

Shall I just assume the MB died somewhere along the way, or are there other things I still might try?  Any help greatly appreciated.

What is the memory are you using. It calls for 1066 or 1333(OC). If you are trying like 1600 it might not work.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using DDR3-1600, classified as compatible by crucial.com.  Regardless, even when I remove RAM, the system should show something during POST via VGA, saying memory is missing, etc.  But, there's not even a blinking cursor ever.  The monitor never detects any VGA signal at all.  So I don't think it can be the RAM.

You need the memory to boot. Without one of the 3 items you computer will not boot. You need the CPU, Memory, & Video. This is why I put them in that order. It first looks at the CPU, then the Memory and the last one Video card or on board.

Ok, I think I might have found the problem.  I have only connected the ATX power connector, not the ATX_12V (the small one with 3 pins).  My power supply doesn't have a connector for the ATX_12V, and I hence thought it was optional or alternative to the larger ATX connector.  I think I have to plug in half the EPS connector... will give it a shot when i get home...

Don't feel bad about that. I have been doing this for 30 yrs. When they went to the power plug for the CPU I did the same thing. I didn't pick it up at first. So yes you need that plug.
