GA-Z170-HD3P AHCI controller boot
« on: December 03, 2015, 11:58:19 am »
Hello. Recently I got GA-Z170-HD3P mobo. I wan't to install windows 7x64 on it. I have problem with AHCI controller recognition. When at boot it asks me for a driver. I put the Gigabyte DVD and select the boot driver for my chipset. It says me though that it cannot be installed and contact my vendor for updated driver. I update my BIOS to latest F.4 and download the latest driver from gigabyte site. I have the same results, the controller driver cannot be installed. Is there something I am missing? I have done tones of installs but this is the first time I cannot find a working driver. Please help.

set bios to AHCI and install windows it will have its own driver so when it ask for driver you should just go right past it. As long as it shows your hard drive you are fine..

try putting it in another computer and initialize it and format it then put it back in the one you are building

My solution for this problem is:
1. make bootable usb with rufus (GPT partition)
2. make dvd with same iso file
3. start installation from usb then when drivers not find insert dvd and continue installing.
