I have a 990FXA-UD5. (rev 3.0) and developed a weird static problem. In Windows, you can hear background static on the microphone. However, it is not the microphone. You can plug earbuds into the microphone jack so that the device stays enabled. If you listen to the microphone, you just hear varying levels of static. Sometimes, it fades in and out like a slow wave. Restarting doesn't always help.
It doesn't seem to be a driver issue. I've have the mobo for a handful of years before the problem appeared. Should I buy a sound card or what? Also, one other weird thing is that in Linux, you also hear the static on speakers / headphones even though no sounds are playing.
