Dynamic Vcore Issue

Hi all,

I'm trying to use the dynamic Vcore setting to reduce load volts to my 6700K and retain idle down-volting. At auto volts at stock speeds the MB was giving the CPU 1.295v which was causing it to hit 90c within 2 minutes of Prime testing. I've manually reduced to 1.235v and upped the turbo multipliers to 42 (for now) on all cores and it's stable around 75c max after 6 hours prime testing.

I now want to put the volts back to auto and apply a negative dynamic Vcore offset of 0.060v, problem is that as soon as I apply any negative offset the system will not POST and the BIOS loads fail-safe defaults, even when applying only -0.005v. All settings are back to auto (CPU V at 'normal') at this point with XMP enabled for RAM @ 3000mhz, I've tried changing the load line settings to both options as well as auto with no difference.

I'm using latest stable BIOS F5, all other specs are in sig. Can you help me figure this out - is there something I'm missing?

Don't know how to solve your problem but I'd like to add that in the description of DVID, it says "increases or decreases the vcore LIMIT."  What it actually does may be a different story, idk.  I'm using Z170 MX Gaming 5.

I'm still getting the hang of this, but you may try setting vcore to manual, disabling turbo, keeping power states and EIST enabled, and setting CPU multi and uncore to w/e you are shooting for.  I'm still trying to determine what CPU Flex is supposed to do... I have CPU/Flex/Uncore at all x45 (100 bclk and fclk), all C-states enabled except 6-8, EIST enabled, +0.06DVID on my 6600k and doing AVX tests at 72C, 1.32vcore atm.

I'm going to start a thread on WTF is CPU Flex now, the description is not helpful.  Cheers!

Yea, thanks. I've got it running at the moment with a static voltage of 1.320v at 4.5 GHz with turbo disabled but all the rest of the power saving features turned on. I've tried the latest beta BIOS but the dynamic vcore option doesn't seem to work at all there, setting a negative offset of any number still ends up with the voltage jumping above 1.400v at full load - system boots okay, but I think that's that's just because it's not working.
