Problem with Graphic Card in Z270X Gaming 7
« on: May 04, 2017, 11:16:31 am »
Well, as the tittle says, im having weird problems with my Graphic Card and this Motherboard.

My Computer:

CPU: i7 7700K Stock
MB: Gigabyte Z270X Aorus Gaming 7
RAM: x2 8GB 3200
GPU: MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X
SSD: Samsung EVO 850 250 GB
HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 1TB
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W  Plus Gold.

Happened to me like 3 weeks ago, My Windows was not Smooth as it should, my old laptop with an i3 was even smoother than it and in some games i wasnt getting the FPS's as i should, ppl with much worse computer than me was getting better FPS....

I noticed this problem with the game Playerunknow Battleground, i know this game is in beta phase but yet was enough to notice there was something wrong, how was possible that ppl with slower CPU and lower Graphic card managed to get 60 FPS in most of areas and me with much better computer wasnt able to get this or more than that, morever i was getting like 15-30 average of fps.
I tried everything, reinstalled Windows 10, tried Windows 7, going back again to Windows 10, i spend a whole weekend trying to figure out what could be the problem, by then i was using the version F4 of my Bios, and the F5 was in beta Status, so i was thinking about upgrading or RMA it, before i upgrade i decided to try the Backup Bios, when i went to Windows... everything worked nicely, Windows was so Smooth, opening sofwares or new tabs was not laggy anymore, either lagg in Chrome when opening new layers, so in ends with the conclusion, ok it has to be a Bios problem, so i was about to upgrade the Main Bios to the F5 version, but before to do it i decided to give a las check, when i did everything was working like the Backup Bios, no laggs in Windows and the right fps's, just saying in Playerunknow Battlegrond with the problem i was having like 15-30 fps, without this problem 80-100 noticeable difference.

A little bit after the Bios F5 was stable so i decided to upgrade, everything worked well so not a big deal, a week later i changed my 1080 FE to the MSI gaming X one.

Everything was Working well untill few days, i was concerned about the temps, since my case is a bit small to have a good temps for the things i have inside, so was changing the positions of my fans, radiator, etc.

In the last changes i unplug my graphic card since i put the radiator in front place, once i plug it back, turned on my PC and Installed Gigabytr APP Launcher and SIV to check temps (wich i didnt had before) went inside to PlayerUnknow Battleground since it makes my PC go to high temps, and the problems i had before that i fixed are back again, so i tried everything i did before but now, nothing seems to work, tried to boot with Backup Bios, reconect everything and nothing, my game runs again in low FPS's and windows works Slowly again.

Right now i dont know what to do or what can cause this problem since i havent changed anything on my configuration to make these problems happens.

Maybe be a problem of my PCIE port? Should I RMA it or it has to be a Bios or Software problem??

Sorry for bad grammar and messy text, i writte in my phone and im not used to writte that long in small screens.

Could it be that your on the integrated GPU now?

Check the bios and disable that.

Nope, 100% im using the 1080 Ti, and as i said, even  when i open new layers in chrome i feel the lagg, so basically is bad performance in my system.

I'm not sure why this is happening.

Maybe if you uninstall the nvidia driver with DDU.

And reinstall ?

I have almost the same build (1070 instead of 1080 Ti), and the same exact issue, playing the same exact game.
Windows 10 feels sluggish and unresponsive as hell right now.

Tried updating the bios to F5 but nothing changed. Pretty sure there is something wrong with this mobo.

Have you installed App Center, deinstall it and try again. So my experience, i had tge problem too, uninstall App Center and FPS are normal.

Whether bios F4 or currently F7a. It was the App Center. Even a fresh Windows installation, once the current App Center was installed and fps collapsed on any games.

Tried uninstalling App Center, problem still exists.

Uninstalling with all sec. Apps, like SIV, EasyTune etc. and restart (Important). This helped me. But, as soon as I install only the App Center, than FPS fall from over 100 fps to 30 - 40 fps on Neverwinter.

But maybe something is really wrong with your motherboard.

I'll restart later, but I believe I will need to RMA my motherboard for sure.
Will reply if anything changes.

EDIT: I LOVE YOU DUDE, I LOVE YOU. Smooth as hell now, I can finally breath. You don't know how many hours I spent trying to fix this. Thanks for this, Gigabyte needs to seriously take a look at their apps.

Fuuuuuuuu, i just came here to post and say, i fixed the problem, i was so mad about the situation, i rebuild my PC again thinking it maybe was a bad conection on any, change Bios, unistalled APP center and nothing changed, i tried to format my PC and everything was working as it should, and guessed that 100% it was the APP Center so i came here to say that, and then i saw the comments of ppl saying about similar problems once we install this APP.

The thing is, it has to be a problem with this Aplication and Z270 motherboards i guess, in fact, is not normal that a official software from Gigabyte makes a big loss in performance with Gigabyte Motherboards....

Yeah, it's really weird. I'll try to contact them to warn about this issue, and hope that it doesn't affect anyone else.

This App Center and the apps look weird. It reminds me of my Sinclair Spectrum 30 years back. An app for year 2017 should look much more sophisticated...

Yea that App center is horrible looking, They should have just made it look like the UEFI bios, hell that would have been better. I wonder what has changed since the issue you have encountered since the stutter problem hasn't hit me yet.

I'm running the shipping versions of App Center and SIV.  Prompts to upgrade every time I open it, but sticking with what works. Gigabyte has completely re-vamped the interface now.
