Gigabyte ga-x99-ud4p gives one beep then 5 beeps on start.
« on: January 05, 2016, 06:07:05 pm »
Hi,

Gigabyte ga-x99-ud4p gives one beep then 5 beeps on start. Will occasionally not cause the 5 beeps and go into windows.
Trying to use memory at XMP settings (2800) will cause this problem to happen constantly. Checked socket for bent pins. Tried excluding parts one by one to no avail.

Anyone with a similar problem?

Thanks,
Ori

I run a X99-UD4 board and have ADATA XPG Z1 32GB of 2400 memory. I'm running in the XMP mode with no problems. You might have to OC your CPU a little. That CPU really only supports 2133 memory.

The higher you go on memory speed the more you have to OC. Where mine is near the default speed I don't have to OC. Plus I don't usually run memory faster than what the CPU will support.

I get the 5 beeps most of the time regardless of any OC or XMP I do. When I do XMP it never goes into Windows just stays with the black screen (Without XMP it will occasionally go into windows after a delay).
I tried OC to 34 (4.32 Ghz) with XMP, but that didn't help/change anything. Had to remove battery to get it to post again.
I tried another old GPU. Same thing.
I don't have any other memory to swap.

Can you recommend other settings?

Thanks,
Ori

I have 2 X99 board a Gigabyte and Evga. I have a Z170 gigabyte board. The 2 X99 boards will run the 2400 with no problems. The Z170 no matter what I do will not run them.

On my Ga-X99-UD4 board they came out with bios update for the DDR4 memory F9. So that might be why I can run mine. There is a bios update for your's but it is a beta bios. The only other thing is the memory running at the right volts?
