Z87X-UD3H Keyboard issue (USB 3.0?)

Z87X-UD3H Keyboard issue (USB 3.0?)
« on: March 05, 2016, 08:01:42 pm »
I am having this issue where after a while with any keyboard, the D key is not registered while holding down the control key.  The D key does work however if I hold the D key and then press the control key.  As you know this is a crucial key combination for gaming.  The only way to fix this issue is to restart my computer.  While in windows if I go through the trouble shooting option, it tells me that there may be some incompatibility with USB 2.0 devices and USB 3.0 ports.  From what I've read there shouldn't be any issue especially with any newer keyboard.  Is there a known issue with this motherboard as far as USB 2.0 devices and USB 3.0 compatibility?  I really have no idea how I can figure out what is causing this issue.  BTW this motherboard has no USB 2.0 ports so I have no way of testing if the issue still occurs if plugged in via USB 2.0.

Where the board doesn't have USB 2 then what you can try is get add-on bracket with USB 2. Or get a PS2 keyboard. Other then that I can't tell you why his is happening with the D key. I never heard of this before.

Yep, like dmdilks...  I've also never heard something like this before.  In windows, ctrl+D does nothing.  In IE browser, ctrl+D will save a web page as a favorite.  In whatever game(s) you are playing is anyone's guess?  Normally, I would suspect a Game Profile for mouse and/or keyboard.

However, this board does have a known issue in windows 8, where USB device detection can fail when the system resumes from sleep, hibernate or S3.

This is unlikely, but let us know if this applies.

I have Windows 10 professional so I am not sure this would apply.

Also this is system wide when it occurs so it is not a game keyboard map issue.  When the issue occurs, this combination stops working across all games and programs and I have tested it with the Keyboard Test app from Passmark to confirm it.

All windows 10 is a make over of windows 8 & 8.1. I have windows 10 on a new EVGA x99 board and I'm having problems with it. Yes it isn't the same thing but about every other boot I have to repair the winsock on it.

Believe this or not we have seen more problems with windows 10 then 8. We have seen where people are having problems with the USB 3 running really slow. Now is this a upgrade or a clean install. Plus I bet you were not having any problems before this with the other OS.

This issue didn't start until I bought my new keyboard a week ago.  It still had Windows 10 on it.  Now when I plug my old keyboard in (some wireless Logitech keyboard) I get the same issue even though I didn't have the issue before.  Very strange.

The windows 10 did a update that the keyboards doesn't like. Go check the history on the updates and see if windows did one for the keyboard. I don't let windows 10 do any updates for my hardware.
