Freezing at BIOS screen

Freezing at BIOS screen
« on: April 09, 2016, 10:07:08 am »
Hi,

MB : Z170X Gaming 3 F6
CPU : Intel i5-6600
OS : WIndows 10

I installed windows 10 from USB on my new build and due to laziness / ignorance reasons had 'Other OS' and all the default settings selected in the MB BIOS.

I am now encountering freezes at the BIOS screen on first boot, this requires a random amount of resets before booting successfully into W10

Any advice on whether the two issues are related and what should I do to recover the situation.

Cheers

Yes it should run but what I would do is plug the windows 10 USB drive in to the computer. Boot up and go into the bois. Set it to boot from the UEFI USB set the other OS to windows 8/10 then reinstall windows. Once it is installed then go back in and disable the CSM and give it a try.

Just in case anyone is having this problem (failing to boot, getting stuck at the BIOS screen, having to hit reset random numbers of times to get the PC to boot to windows)

I 'downgraded' myself to F4 BIOS and all my issues went away.  Here are my specs :

- Intel Core 6M Cache,3.30 GHz Processor (i5-6600) (Turbo Boost 3.9 GHz)
- Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2400C14R Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400Mhz CL14 XMP 2.0
- Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 EU Motherboard
- Windows 10 Home 32-bit/64-bit English International
- MSI AMD R9 390 Gaming Graphics Card (8 GB, PCI-E 3.0, GDDR5, 512 Bit, DVI-I, HDMI)
- EVGA Supernova 750 W Gold Power Supply Unit
- Fractal Design Define R4 FD-CA-DEF-R4-BL-W ATX Midi PC Case Black / Pearl
- Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB 2.5 inch

I tried re-downloading and re-flashng F6 etc before deciding to go back to F4

Based on my experience I would avoid the F6 BIOS, it wrecked my machine.
