Intel Turbo Boost

Recently as some of you may know (based on other threads) I upgraded my rig to the GA-Z170X Gaming 7 motherboard along with the Core i7 6700K Skylake processor.

After upgrading I noticed when performing a Intel BurnIn Test to benchmark my system that my temps and power watts were somewhat high as shown in this image:

Based on other feedback  I reviewed the BIOS settings (under the advanced CPU settings) and noticed that it had an option for Intel Boost which was set to Auto. After changing the Intel Boost option within the BIOS from Auto to Disabled and rebooting/retest then this is my new results:

So in my analysis it would appear that the Intel Boost option in the BIOS is what was causing the surge in power and temps.

However if I leave this set to disabled are there any known draw backs, Basically will I suffer (or notice) any performance related issues in applications, games? Appreciate any input and/or advice if I should leave this set to Auto (as its default) or ?

The Turbo Boost never really work right. Many people have had problems with it and leaving it disable will not hurt you. The CPU runs at 4.0 and the boost only gives a little 4.2. So you really not going to see a difference. Plus on the Turbo boost it really in a way a fake OC. You really should always disable it when to are doing test.

Plus this is just me I don't OC, Benchmark, or stress test anything. I have been doing this to many years to worry about the small stuff. I know what my computer can do. I don't need some program to tell me what I already know.

I have learn many years ago that that when I'm build a computer that if i go with this CPU or that memory that not as fast as something else. You really not going to see a big difference.

I'm not taking anything away from you. Enjoy on what you are doing because everybody has they own thing they like.
