z170x-gaming 7 startup problems
« on: June 03, 2016, 04:33:14 pm »
I'm trying to help a friend with his new build.

i7 6700K
z170x-gaming 7
32 GB Corsair Vengeance 3400mhz
Asus strix gtx 980ti
Samsung Evo 500 GB
XFX 1250W

This is a completely new build.
Everything is checked, but can't get it into Window with more than 1 ram module - if we put in 2 or more it starts up but there is no signal on the screen. It starts up like there is no problem - just without picture.
Tried both HDMI an Displayport.
When we pulled out the RAM modules and starts up with 1 again - we get the black screen that shows windows did start up.

BIOS is updated and so is the HDMI 2.0 update tool.

We are testing this without the 980ti card and uses the internal. Had the same with the 980ti...

Someone who can help?

Hello,

You should try all the memory slots with just the 1 working stick, this will tell you if the CPU / Memory controller is not working.

[SLOT.4] - [SLOT.2] - [SLOT.3] - [SLOT.1]

Assuming all the slots work you need to find out if every single stick you have actually works.
No point going further until the above it done.

Stick A
Stick B
Stick C
Stick D

I assume you have 4, what is the part number for the memory kit?
