Ok, so it wasn't as hard as it looked in the end. There are rubber tabs that protrude slightly on the top left and right of the bezel. I inserted a small micro flathead underneath the lefthand one and gently lifted of the bezel. The bezel isn't rigid plastic, it's very flexible and lightweight. once you get a section off, you can then peel it all the way off.
With the bezel off you can then remove 4 retaining screws to release the panel. put some foam or cardboard on the keyboard then rest the screen side of the panel on it. Then you just need to disconnect the cable and you're away.
