I recently purchased a gigabyte z170x gaming 5 motherboard, brand new ith an intel i7 6770k cpu. I have a Radeon R9 280x gpu which the mobo does not seem to recognise when I insert it in the pciex16 slot. The fans on the gpu spin but there is no signal going to the monitor.
I tried a variety of things, including cables and installing an older gpu in the pciex16 slot. All yield the same results, no signal to the monitor.
The R9 gpu, as well as my older gpu, however works fine in the pciex8 slot.
The integrated gfx works fine too.
Why is the pciex16 slot not detecting any of the gpus? Is there a setting in the bios for this? Please help!
