Z170X-Gaming 7 Windows 10 Installation
« on: June 30, 2016, 02:57:53 pm »
I have four SATA SSDs in RAID 5 configuration. I created the RAID volume as described in C-1 of the manual (UEFI RAID Configuration). When the Windows 10 setup starts, I see the Drive 0 Unallocated space, but I load the IAStorAC driver anyway, which takes a very long time to complete for some reason. After that I select Drive 0 Unallocated Space  and click Next. I get an hourglass and the system seems to be hanging forever. It's been about 20-30 minutes now in this state. The mouse still moves, so it is not frozen.

I have the latest BIOS, and CSM Support is disabled. Is there some special trick to getting Windows 10 installed on a RAID volume?

Aftermath:
OK, so the RAID volume was initializing, but the BIOS raid utility doesn't show a progress indicator, I only happened to notice the status. If you have a problem like I did, wait until the RAID volume status shows as normal before proceeding to try installing Windows.
