X99-SLI Unstable under load

(1/1)

Denonite:
Just after suggestions, at the end of my tether

I have a machine built with the following spec. Its been running fine for almost a year

Gigabyte X99-SLI rev 1.0
5820K
4x Teamgroup Vulcan 3000MHz DDR4
SoundBlaster Z
Samsung 950 256GB SSD In PCI-E Adapter + Corsair Force 120SSD + 1TB WD HDD
Windows 10 64bit
Was running 2x PowerColor 280x
EVGA 1300w PSU
Raijintec triton 120 with 4x fans in push-pull
NZXT Grid+ running 4x 120CM Carsair Fans
Corsair Air 540 Case

Recently started getting sudden restarts for no reason or freeze for a few seconds, then restart, even under mild load (World of Warcraft). Temps are fine CPU is never over 45 degrees.

Initially put it down to the graphics cards getting on a bit. Upgraded to new Nvidia 1070GTX (WOW what a card) still getting same restarts

Tried so far
Running stock (no XMP or CPU overclock - was running OK at 4.2GHz. Had gone to 4.5GHz and all was OK but settled on 4.2GHz)
Changed RAM for Corsair Vengance LPX 3000MHz (but running 2133 stock)- no change
Removed sound card and tried onboard (sometimes was buzzing on freeze) - no change
Tried no sound - no change
Updated to F22 BIOS - no change
Updated all drivers (refresh versions on Gigabyte web)
Checked and re-seated CPU - no change
Tried different PSU (Antec Gamer 900 had from old build) - no change

So have changed everything except the MB and CPU - have requested an RMA for the MB (not heard anything yet)

Anyone any other ideas? Cant even do anything under load for more than around 10mins

dmdilks:

I would start here it could be one of the drives. Or changing the sata cables.

Denonite:
Thanks for the suggestion unfortunately no change

Really thinking its the MB now.

Changed all SATA cables.
HDD and SSD removed/disconnected
All other fans and controllers disconnected
Soundcard removed
Tried the Pro 950 in the m.2 slot as well as moved to different PCI-E slot
Removed battery for 5 mins and reset CMOS (again)

I'm now running with just GPU, Boot SSD and Cooler connected and I'm still getting shutdowns. Noticed that every other time it crashes/shuts down it resets the BIOS so I'm really thinking its MB.

No reply to my RMA request 48 hours ago!

Denonite:
final tests. started failing quicker and quicker. Now wont post at all. tried an old 5770 from a recent upgtade of my sons pc and same.

So its going back to the reseller to test and they will hopefully get the rma

bye bye gigabyte
