GC-Thunderbolt 2 and F22 BIOS for X99 motherboards

Hello!  So I recently built a new system with the X99 Gaming 5P.  I'm upgrading from a Z97 (Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1) and was using the Thunderbolt EX II card with that system for Thunderbolt connectivity.  I purchased a GC-Thunderbolt 2 card to use with this system as it is advertised as compatible here:

The card does not work as advertised in either the PCI-e 2 or 3 slots.  Researching this more, I found other users claiming that the thunderbolt option was removed from the BIOS as of F20?  This should be listed in the patch notes if that is the case!  I read about another user potentially getting a custom build of the BIOS with it enabled for the X99-SLI, would that be possible with my board?  I really need thunderbolt 2 support specifically for an audio interface, so it's pretty important to me.  This was the forum post I read where the guy referenced getting a custom BIOS (X99SLI_F23X.zip):

Anyone have experience with getting in touch with Gigabyte about this sort of thing?  I've heard support is a nightmare, to deal with so any tips are appreciated about how to talk to someone who can actually help me with this.
