GA-H57M-USB3 will not boot up

Hi,

I am having trouble with a Gigabyte H57M-USB3 motherboard.  I have had it for several years, working great.  Recently, I upgraded to Win10 - all was fine, except my ASUS video card didn't like win 10.  I replaced it with "EVGA GeForce 8400 GS Passive 1024 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Graphics Card DVI/HDMI/VGA, 01G-P3-1303-KR" to resolve the problem.  When I booted with the new video card, the motherboard would not POST and there is no video output.  I've looked through all of the troubleshooting online, most are first time boots that don't really apply.  I've removed all the video cards, stripped down to just the OS hard drive, cleared CMOS, tried just hitting "DEL" to enter BIOS.  Nothing seems to wake it up or to provide video output from either the old video card or the on-baord video.  Any suggestions?  It is BIOS version F7, I could try updating, but am a little afraid to mess it up more.

What kind of display are you connecting to?  And what kind of cable/adapterare you using?

I started with a BenQ GL2460 with an HDMI cable.  I have also tried a HP W2207 with a DVI cable.

So the system runs when started, but video never initializes and no display output?  Had you uninstalled the Asus card before shutting down and adding the EVGA card?

The system should run / display video after a CLR_CMOS.  Stripped down configuration.  Try pulling the battery and disconnect from power to be sure. 5 min should be plenty.  On board video should work with VGA or DVI also. Native res of both monitors is within range of standard resolution for this MB I believe.  Sometimes HDMI can be finicky so its recommended to use vga/DVI for troubleshooting as you've done.  Something I'm sure you know..  if a card requires external power, it must be connected     

Remove the battery and power connections, pull the memory, disconnect the HDD (data or power connection).  Then wait 5+ min.  Insert battery, connect power.  Power on.  Describe the behavior?  CPU Fan spins, nothing more?  Beeps?

Power off, disconnect power.  Add memory.  Power up again.  Behavior?

Power down, disconnect power, add HDD.  Power up again.  Behavior?

Barring some type of physical failure, I suspect its the BIOS not initializing (guessing).

Thanks again.  I tried your stated procedure.  What is does is, fans spin up, all 4 phase lights come on for about 20 seconds.  There are no tones or beeps.  After the 20 seconds the lights turn off, fans contunue to spin.  Maybe a minute later, it cycles off and tries to restart.  I did not uninstall the ASUS video card before swapping in the EVGA card.  I came to the conclusion that somehow the board failed when I swapped out the card.
