I've been experiencing bad and frequent random freezes in Windows, Memtest, and even while idle in the Bios.
Installed the Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7 this week, along with an Intel Core i7 6700K and a pair of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 ram sticks (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15R, listed as compatible on Gigabyte's website). From day one the system randomly freezes and hangs.
I've done fresh installs of Windows 8, and 10, and it still freezes. First thought is that it's the ram, and I tried running the system with ram in different slots and then individually, and the freezes still happen. All settings are at stock.
I've also installed the latest beta bios for the Gaming 7 released yesterday, and the issue persists.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I bumped up the System Agent, VCCIO, and Dram Voltage, then turned on XMP ... resulted in an instant crash and blue screen at Windows. At stock voltage and speeds, never overclocked, I get full system freezes, not blue screens.
Any idea what this could be? I have new ram arriving on Monday but if it's not that, I suspect the problem is either the board or CPU. Any way to problem solve this? Because I get no error messages from Windows and the board itself is showing "AO" which means IDE initialization (?). I just took the entire system apart and put it back together and the problem persists. Running a Corsair AX850 with a single video card so I doubt the problem is power.
Any help would be appreciated.
