Hello,

first of all thanks for help in advance.

I just bought a nice machine: The already mentioned M/B with processor i7 6700k + 64GB of Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LED. The problem is that I cannot raise the clock up to 3000 Mhz as expected.

The best I could do is 2500 Mhz at 1.3v using XMP and changing the multiplier. And this worked only after I upgraded the bios to F20b before that it was impossible. So definitely there is some sort of compatibility issues.

The ram is CMU32GX4M2C300015 with latency: 15-17-17-35

I tried everything, setting it manually without XMP or with XMP or partially XMP + manual settings, no wait, if lucky sometimes it would boot up at 1.35v @ 3000mhz but it is too unstable, it freezes and then reboot without post. I need to reset the CMOS and start over. I tried different volts.

I know that ram is not in the compatible list, so I also got some other RAM always from corsair this time listed in that list, and still no work. I tried the Vengeace lpx CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 the same problem. It works great at 2133 and maximum up to 2500 mhz stable.

I do not know what to do. I know that it is not too much important in the end the difference in not noticeable.

Anyway if you have any ideas I am open to listen. Thank you

Hi there) Which bios version are you using? Try latest beta. It works best for me, although I still can't run my 2x16Gb 3200Mhz CL14 kit at native speed. 3100Mhz is the limit.

He's running F20b - latest beta.  Best he could do is 2500.


sciack, your choice.. 

I'd run at 2500 and wait for a new BIOS.  kuzotronic is getting a higher clk speed because his memory is CL14 vs your 15. 

Your timing and voltage are set correctly.  You've tried with/without XMP settings and higher voltages with instability.  What is the CLK speed of the CPU when you get the system to boot @2500?  Both it and the memory have to be pushed to get the faster speeds.  You can also open a support ticket with Gigabyte, but make sure all of your hardware is on the QVL or that will likely be the response you get from them. You guys are lucky.  Between work, a wife and house repairs, I don't have the luxury of trying to OC my memory.  Good luck.  All I have, sorry.

I said I am using F20b... that's the last one but I cannot use my ram at 3000 Mhz. I think maybe because it is 64GB... that's too much?!?!

Thank you for your reply... Yes I think this is what I am going to do... just wait for a better BIOS... I have clocked my i7 6700k to 4.4Ghz very stable! That helped of course.

For 64GB listed in subject line you would have to be using multiple kits. It is not unusual for memory to be unable to run at rated specifications when combined with other memory, even the same brand and part number. This is especially true when using large amounts of memory.

Mixing memory kits can also cause a system to be unable to boot. A work around is to try running the memory at a slower speed. This seems to be what you are doing.

Since mixing multiple kits are combinations that have never been tested together at the factory, they carry no guarantee to work together or operate at rated speeds. The answer is to use a single kit if you want a guarantee from the memory manufacturer.

Excellent point (thumbs up).  I must have missed that he was mixing kits.  Though he tried with the non QVL and then with a lesser amount of approved RAM. 

sciack, if you're mixing ram, it isn't going to work

I had the doubt! Yes, indeed it must be it. Never mind 2500 Mhz is enough. Is there some 64GB kit? Maybe I can try to get rid of what I have and buy new ones... But it is not really necessary

Ok when you put them in how do you install them one set in 1 & 3 and the other set in 2 & 4. People they are the same everything. Speed, timing, & volts. The other thing is yes it is nice we can run faster memory like this. But does it really run faster not really. In most cases it really runs slower then 2133. But it is all up to the person that runs it.

The only difference between the two is one lights up and other doesn't. Plus if you are not doing video editing. Any thing over 16gb is really a waste of time too. Your computer is only going use so much memory and that is it.

I said yes if you are doing Video Editing or what you are doing VM's. Yes you need the memory. If you are just using it to play games, internet, and miner things you don't need a lot of memory. Any thing over really 8gb or 16gb of memory is more bragging rights.  ;D
