New Build with GA-Z170X Gaming 7 and GSkill Ripjaws V 2400
« on: December 24, 2016, 08:19:04 pm »
:( I just built a new rig with the GA-Z170X Gaming 7 and G.Skill Ripjaws V 2400 memory. Pushed the power button, and the PC kept cycling on and off, with an error of 55. I did the obvious tests of checking for bent cpu pins, switching sockets, to no avail. Scanning for other "Error 55" posts, I've come to the conclusion that this board will not run on o'clocked memory. Taking a hint from the other posts, I have returned the 2400 memory for the default 2133 memory. Hopefully, this will at least allow me to boot up. Hopefully, Gigabyte will do a recall, or come up with a software fix for this problem.

I had the same issue.

Mine worked with my 2x8GB G.Skill RipJaws 2400 for about 2 weeks (XMP not enabled, so running at 2133), then decided it didn't like it any more. Swapped it for another set, didn't like those either. Swapped that set for Corsair 2133MHz and not had a single hiccup. Thankfully bought from Amazon, so replacements came same day and I had a month to return the originals.

The board will run OC'ed memory, but RipJaws seem very problematic. There appears to have been lots of success with the G.Skill Trident Z, but it's just not worth the hassle for me, personally.

The Rev 1.1 version of the board apparently overcomes this flaw.
