After bios update getting bsod
« on: January 03, 2017, 10:08:34 am »
Hi. I have Gigabyte Z170x gaming 3 eu rev 1.0 mobo. It was working just fine for a year and now after f20 bios update I get bsod "unmountable boot device" then pc restarts, beeps 4 short times and enters bios. Then I reboot pc and everything wokrs fine. This thing repeats once every day at computer start after beeing off for 10+ hours. I tested it memtest86 and no errors were found. I have Windows 10x64, ddr4 kingston furry X 2x8GB 2666mhz, i5 6600k (non overclocked), m.2 samsung ssd, toshiba ssd, gigabyte 1070 xtreme, psu corsair rm 1000 (baught used).  How to test is what really is happening?

Why did you update it ? Plus go back to F20b. F20 has bugs in it.

If you didn't make a back-up copy of your BIOS before updating and you now want to go back. Pop over to Tweaktown here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-beta-bios-post274574.html#post274574 where you should be able to find previous BIOS versions for your motherboard.

Just noticed, there is also a newer Beta BIOS F21b available and it might be worthwhile trying that before going back.

That bsod occured again. I think that it is windows 10 bug. After marking fast startup on power button configuration that bsod disappeared  but now instead of bsod I get black screen with mouse pointer.
