GA-3CESL-RH (rev.1.1) server motherboard with Quad-Core Opterons 8354(Barcelona)

Good day!

I'm using GA-3CESL-RH (rev.1.1) server motherboard. She is working well with Dual-core Opterons (Santa-Rosa)...

Yesterday a tried to launch Quad-Core Opterons 8354(Barcelona), but motherboard didn't start (after start launching cpu fans for 2 seconds and system promptly shut down, even doesn't pass bios)

Please clarify, can my revision carry on Quad-Core (Barcelona) Opterons???

Unfortunately at the support page for GA-3CESL-RH presented information only ref to rev 1.0 and 1.4.

So, what about my rev 1.1 Maybe BIOS update?

The GA-3CESL-RH supports Opteron 2000 series (socket F) processors.

For all Opterons, the first digit (the X) specifies the number of CPUs on the target machine:
1 - Designed for uniprocessor systems
2 - Designed for dual-processor systems
8 - Designed for systems with 4 or 8 processors

For Opteron 8354, you would need a motherboard with 4 or 8 processors. It is not in the Opteron 2000 series.

Your motherboard revision number is printed on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) itself, not to be confused with the MANUAL Revision number.

I don't know how it possible, but someone before me flash the BIOS
with version 3CESL3-F3. BIOS DATE 07/16/09.
Anyhow motherboard is booting and working fine. 

Also I read that 3CESL3 working with 2400 series (Six-Core Istanbul Opterons)

So, it looks like now my GA-3CESL-RH (flashed with aforementioned BIOS)
should work with Barcelonas (ex. Opteron 2384 ) or even with 24XX Istanbul six-core processors ?

So did you try Istambul OPTERONs with this board ??

According to  http://www.gigabyte.com/Press/News/682    v. 1.5 (and later?) will work with quad core CPUs.  And in my experience, 8xxx opterons will work in these motherboards.  My v. 1.1 won't boot with quad cores, but works fine with two 8222 dual core opterons.
