GA-EX58-UD3R Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Use
« on: March 04, 2017, 06:38:54 pm »
Hi Guys,  :D

I have a GA-EX58-UD3R and am wanting confirmation that it's not possible to install Dual Channel DDR3 Memory in this Triple Channel based board or not?

Triple Channel Memory seems to be as rare as rocking horse shizzle... If anyone can post a link to a supplier I'd appreciate it   ::)

Cheers

Triple channel memory can be ordered from Corsair.  I did not verify compatibility, but this is likely your best option.

Hi Shadowsports,

Thanks for all your help m8  :D

I found these...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12GB-G-Skill-DDR3-PC3-12800-1600MHz-Ripjaw-9-9-9-24-Triple-Channel-kit-3x4GB-/331748179293?hash=item4d3dbb7d5d:g:8icAAOSwYmZXI4-j

The memory on the compatibility list for the GA-EX58-UD3R is low in spec but the guys @ the overclockers.co.uk forum say they will be okay,  what do you think?

I'm also looking to replace the ageing i7-920 with something better. The compatibility list for processors is a bit better, up to i7-990x the budget option is the Intel Xeon W3690...

I'm not certain my current Akasa AK-967 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe CPU Cooler will get the job done, what you reckon?

For an x58 platform, I would spent as little as possible on whatever I could put my hands on reasonably.  I have plenty of older hardware around the house (technology hoarder).  Sticking with items from the QVL is safest.  But the advice from others works in a pinch.
