Greetings,
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot. * Actual support may vary by CPU. (The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
This is where you want your GPU if you have one1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
Where your NVMe is installed3 x PCI Express x1 slots
(Should not be used) * The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots.
The PCIEX4 slot operates at up to x2 mode when the PCIEX1_2/PCIEX1_3 slot is populated.
x4 slot operates in x4 mode if the x1 slots above and below it are not populatedThe PCIEX4 slot
operates at up to x4 mode when both of the PCIEX1_2 and PCIEX1_3 slots are empty.
desired (The
PCIEX4 and PCI Express x1 slots conform to
PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
PCI Express standard is 2.0 for this slot. Your drive is 3.0 standard. Here is the reality. The performance differences between PCI Express Standard 2.0 vs. 3.0 in this case will not be noticeable. If you put identical machines with the two variants side by side, the benchmarks would be a fairly even depending on the test and benchmark being measured. The m.2 would have been my first choice as it is roughly $70 less than the AIC variant
Cheers
