Hey Ogg, could you post the rest of your settings?  

I'm using nearly identical equipment and I can't get stable above 4.25ghz.
E8600
OCZ Reaper PC8500
Noctua NH-D14 cooler with 3 NF-P12 120mm fans

Here's the bios template if you need it.

Oh btw my northbridge voltage (mch core) was set to 1.4v and that was stable for my 4.53ghz overclock. The reason I said 1.5v was because I got bored oneday and tried to push it further

Fastest I could get on air (mind you this was on a E8500 AND a rubbishy OCZ VENDETTA 2 and NO OTHER cooling methods) was 4.247 stable1

haha cheers, what board was that on? I'm still impressed by this boards 2132mhz FSB speed (still 100% stable to this day )

well when you hear about the board i did it on you will be impressed. I twas on a MSI X48, YOU KNOW THAT ONE THAT HAD DDR2 AND DDR3 SLOTS ON THE SAME BOARD. as you know msi arent exactly known for ocing

now having said the above, on my old DFI x48 T2RSB+ DK board i did get 4.547 on water stable and 4.7 non-prime stable on a e8500

Looks like I hit my limit of 3 PMs an hour, Ogg.  

I tried going with the 7x multi and I'm having problems getting the bios to post at anything over 450FSB.  It goes into a power on/off cycle until it resets back to stock 333FSB.

I can set the FSB to 450 and move the multi higher without a problem.  466 powers up but it freezes at the post screen.  At 475 it gives me the finger and says something about my mom.



Edit: 450 gets past the bios post but windows won't load.  433 gets into windows just fine.  I forgot to mention that I'm using 8GB of RAM, not 4.

Ahh, that may well be limiting your overclock. If it will let you get 533 fsb with 8gb ram you're going to have to seriously pump up the northbridge volts. See how you get on with 4gb or even 2

I moved up my CPU termination to 1.40v and my MCH to 1.46v.  Does that sound about right?

I'm running memtest86+ right now to see how high I can get the FSB without a memory error.  I'll post my full bios when I get something that can boot into Windows.

Update:  I'm trying 450 fsb right now at a 7 multi.  I kept VTT at 1.40v and moved MCH to 1.50v.  Looks better than all the other attempts but I think I need to tweak some of the other values when I get something that can boot.

1.5v through the northbridge is quite alot but if you're using 8gb i spose thats right, if you tried with 4gb (2x 2gb) it would require alot less voltage

Anyone know where you can still buy these boards, as you can't find anywhere in the UK that sells the high end Gigabyte P45 or X48 775 socket boards. You can only get the sub £50 ones now
