P55US3L and Corsair memory
« on: May 12, 2010, 03:16:52 pm »
I recently purchased a Gigabyte P55US3L, i5 750 cpu and 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600). Im running 64 bit W7. I have updated to latest bios.

The memory only shows as 1333 in both bios and software although i can overclock it to 1600 but this puts quite a strain on the cpu.

I want to upgrade to 8gig as im very disappointed with the new set up (it doesnt seem any different to my previous dual core and DDR2) but am reluctant to buy another 4 gig of this memory if it isnt properly compatible with the mobo - its not on the gigabyte recommended memory list but is sold as compapatible memory. Anyone know why this memory isnt set to run at 1600 automatically and whether I should migrate to 8gig of a different make memory (GSkill for example) rather than add 4gig more corsair to get this to work effeciently.
