x58 mboard constantly crashing
« on: May 04, 2010, 01:15:24 pm »
Ill start off with the specs of the pc in question

Motherboard : GA-EX58-UD3R....replaced with GA-X58A-UD7 (read below)
CPU : i7 930
Memory : Corsair 6Gb 7-7-7-20 1333Mhz
Video : 8800GT
PSU: Zalman ZM600-HP
HDD : 2x Intel 64Gb SSD
HDD : 2x 1Tb SATA

Yesterday i recieved my new EX58-UD3R, along with the i7-930 and the Corsair ram, I installed it all and powered it on attemped to install a new instance of Win7 on it, just as the initial windows logo dispalyed and the desktop would appear the computer reset it self....Ok burnt a new copy of Win7 same deal, made a bootable usb same deal. Changed hdd around attempted to boot of a hdd that already a Win7 instance on it.. same deal reset just as the desktop is about to start... Stripped everything back only leaving vid card, a HDD, keyboard and a single stick of ram..started it up same deal. tested each ram stick .. no difference. Changed the video card to a little 8500GT no difference. Attempted to set the ram to extreme profile ensuring it was using 1.65v.. no difference. I came to the consulsion it must be a faulty motherboard, so today i exchanged it for a GA-X58A-UD7... but to my utter disapointment, it is still doing the exact same thing. SO that only leaves me with 3 options some trick in the BIOS that i have missed, something wrong with my PSU ( it still works fine on my Core2 775 system), or a dodgey CPU. Any suggestions great appreciated.

solved the issue, turns out a 600W PSU isnt enough to even boot this setup, upgraded to a 1000W PSU running perfectly now. ???
