The Arctic F12 fans are unique in that they can daisy chain together. Each fan comes with a conventional PWM plug, a daisy PWM socket and another plug (3 pin) with yellow speed signal. I have to plug the yellow signal plug into the daisy chain socket and thus the speed signal reaches the motherboard. So it's not actually a motherboard issue.
